Membership of Western Chan Fellowship
It is not required that you "join" the Western Chan Fellowship to attend any of our activities. Indeed we do not accept applications until you have attended several retreats with us, and there is never any requirement that you join.
However we would encourage those who are eligible to consider applying to become a member of the WCF. Becoming a member is an expression of support for the work of the WCF, which is a registered charity whose object is to advance the education of the public in the principles of Buddhism, primarily by way of running intensive retreats, but also by facilitating local meditation groups etc.
To become a Fellow (member) you must meet the criteria specified in Section E of the Constitution of the WCF, principally this refers to attendance at at least three of our retreats including both Western Zen and Chan retreats, and undertakings regarding personal practice.
If you qualify and wish to apply then:
- Refer to the Constitution
- Complete the Application Form:
- Send the completed form, together with the fee, to the Membership Secretary.
