Nottingham Chan Buddhism Group
Chinese Zen Meditation
We are a small group of mixed experience, welcoming new members at any level. We meet regularly on Tuesday evenings in the centre of Nottingham for sitting and walking meditation and discussion. Meetings are hosted by David Valentine-Hagart. We are an affiliated group of the Western Chan Fellowship
The main focus of the group is Chan (Chinese Zen Buddhism) as practiced by the Western Chan Fellowship, but we are an open group and so membership and discussions may encompass other traditions. There is no need to be a Buddhist to come along. If you would like to meditate with us you are welcome to join us.
Meetings every Tuesday evening
Meetings are held in the Theosophical Lodge on Maid Marian Way
If you have your own mat, cushion or meditation bench, it is recommended that you bring it, as we have only very limited supply. Chairs will be available if required. A donation towards the cost of hiring the room is welcomed.
Please arrive in good time, especially if it's your first time at the group. The schedule of a typical evening is as follows.
7:15 - Arrive
7:30 - Opening liturgy
7:45 - Sitting Meditation (Zazen)
8:20 - Slow Walking Mediation
