Retreat Cooks

We always been very fortunate on our retreats to have a high standard of vegetarian cooking provided by expert cooks who are also Chan/Zen practitioners.

Back in the late 70's and early 80's Dave Smockum often cooked for us, and for most of the retreats thereafter until late 90's the main cook was Tim Blanc.

Pamela Butler (was Pamela Hopkinson), past editor of New Chan Forum, has also been one of our regular cooks, and Pete Lowry was our regular cook late 90's and early 2000's. There have also been others e.g. Simon Zadek, Miche Lewin, who have cooked for us from time to time.

We are always on the lookout for more cooks for the rota, and if you would be interested then please contact Pamela. Cooks do get paid for their work, but you must also want to support the WCF and not just regard it as a paid job.

In the past we've asked several of the cooks for recipes that we might publish in New Chan Forum, but they never seem willing to divulge any of their secrets!
